He came to us While We were Yet Sinners: His Offer of Total Forgiveness

By Pastor Roger Redmond
We need an understanding of the message of Christ. He is the Word of God. He spoke words here on earth, John 14:1-6. Beyond the word here on earth He is the Living Word of God. Though not on earth He still speaks. Jesus gave you a place with the Father.
His message of saving grace and power was given in the Garden, Gen. 3:21, See Hebrews 11:1-4
What God did for Adam and Eve was a temporary fix pointing to the Jesus Christ who is the Permanent Sacrifice, Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

“He Came to us while we were yet
Sinners:
His offer of total Forgiveness”

John 3:16

I want to say a few words about 911.  We all have stories to tell about 911 and I am sure we all have heard CNN and Fox News,  Breitbart, Mark Levin, and from countless other websites plus personal stories and they all are touching.  There are many hero’s from those days and I honor every one of them and I honor every victim.  And with each victim, there s a broken heart and a hurting heart that only the LORD can mend.  Let us take a moment and remember the people of 911.

The events of 911 reveal the truth, “We live in a fallen world a sin-cursed world”.

Sin and death had entered the world, Romans 5:12, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Rom 5:13  (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Rom 5:14  Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. From Adam to Moses no one received a positive command and positive judgment from the lips of the LORD like Adam but yet death reign over them for they sinned.  Having been spoken to in their conscience. Romans 1:18-20.

The uniqueness of Christianity is that God has already provided for us everything necessary to have everlasting life.  Every other religion in the world: Islam, Buddhist, Hinduism, Catholicism, Protestantism requires mankind to do something in order to please God. Baptists technically are not Protestant. But many Baptist add to the finished work of Christ as well which brings us to this conclusion: Your religious affiliation does not commend you to God.

Why?  Because God has concluded all under sin, Gal 3:22  But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Rom 5:6  For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. Rom 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:9  Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

He did not come to us in our goodness.  He came to us in our sin.  We have no personal goodness to offer for our sin. Isa 64:6  But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.  Even that verse states we have righteousness but we are not sinless.  All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  There is none righteous, no not a one.  Even the examples of O.T. and the doctrine in Hebrew Chapter 9&10 tell us that the Lamb of God had to come from among men,  Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: Exo 12:6  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. Exo 12:7  And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it. Exo 12:8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs, they shall eat it. Exo 12:9  Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof. Exo 12:10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire. Exo 12:11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD'S passover. Exo 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. Exo 12:13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt. i.e. V5 Exo 12:5  Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats.

The Way of Salvation Made Plain:

Hebrews 9:6-9:12, i.e. v12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.  Let us read from 9:6 - i.e. v10 What is the time of reformation? I believe Hebrews 1:2 explains.  It is this age of grace.

Rom 5:10  For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Rom 5:11  And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

I must explain 5:10   For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.  What does that mean?

1] We have a living Saviour.   Heb_7:25. Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

2] Saved by His life for us in heaven – seated at the Father’s right hand.  And in us by His Spirit. Eph1:13b -14 “in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Eph 1:14  Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

3] As our living Saviour He is coming back for us. He will not leave us in the grave, but we shall rise with him (1Co_15:22).

4. As our living Saviour,  He will complete His work in us, Phil. 1:6

5. And being indwelt by the Spirit of Christ,  The Holy Spirit prays for us Rom 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Rom 8:27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Sin has entered the world and death by sin.  David said in  Psa 51:4  Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.  Psa 51:5  Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Study the Book until you believe it – His Word will change you inside. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

God Witnesses to us of our Salvation as He did to Abel,  “By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts:….”  The gifts that Abel brought was  a Lamb and faith in the Lamb.  God testifies of your righteousness when you believe in the Sacrifice He provided. 1Jn 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Jesus said, I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely

Rev_21:6  And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely Rev. 22:16-17, I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star“…..And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Jesus said I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely --- “…..And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

Joh 4:13  Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

Joh 4:14  But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 4:15  The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw. What did Jesus do? He engaged her to bring her to faith in Him.  Her religion told her about the messiah, V25 but she did not know Him, V 26.  Jacob’s well was symbolic of her religion – she left her waterpot = her religion, the water that could never satisfy V28.

Jesus removed every stumbling block that kept her from the truth, V29.  Jesus had just told her thing that only the Saviour would know.  You may say, He only asked about her husband – well evidently that was enough: “Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ? And He did it without condemnation John 3:17 He did not come to condemn but to save, John 3:18.

You drink of the water He promised you by believing He will give to you that which He promised, [ eternal life.]  He has that authority – He is the Messiah, the victorious Son of Man.
