Why is so much of the New Testament written to those who are saved? Answer: It has to do with what the saved have in Christ and He want you [the believer] to know that. Plus, He wants you, the saved to know about your future. 1Co 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1Co 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. V12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
The Preacher or teacher is to expound the message from the LORD to be understood, 2 Timothy 2:15. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Many Christians believe that being saved and having a home in heaven is all there is but there is much more. Heren is a quote from Ken Yates, {“Christians think that is all there is to the Christian life. They come to the Bible and conclude the purpose of the Scriptures is to tell us how we can “go to heaven.”
It is unfortunate because the fact of the matter is that the vast majority of the New Testament does not deal with that at all. Instead, it tells us how to live after we already know we have eternal life.
If we simply took a step back, we would understand this has to be the case. Why would the writers of the NT write 27 books to tell people how to receive eternal life and then send 26 of them to people who already had it? (Only the Gospel of John was written to unbelievers. End quote)”
The book of John was written for you to be saved, Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. Joh 20:30 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
The same promise that Jesus made to the disciples is the same promise He made to us. You may believe many things about Jesus Christ but there is one thing you must believe to be saved: you must believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
There is a great injustice done when the message of the Gospel is reduced to the wisdom of this world and becomes the works of man rather than the power of God, 1 Cor. 1:18, For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. The gospel is more than justification by faith, But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Jesus was manifested to destroy the works of the devil, 1Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
Jesus is God incarnated, Joh 14:1, Why did Jesus say that? Answer: Because He is God in the Flesh. H eb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; Heb 2:15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
There are many things that can trouble your heart: fear, health, death, family, failure, sins of the past, questions unanswered but Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. [Jesus was saying I am God in Human flesh] So, it was God who suffered the death of the Cross. That truth was in the confession of Martha when she said, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
So, to your troubled heart, John 14:27, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.. And He who calmed the angry waves can speak peace into your troubles. And God said, I made Jesus unto you, 1Co 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
And then again 1Co 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. 1Co 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 1Co 15:57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1Co 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Jesus promised to come again Joh 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. Joh 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. It seems to me the mansions are already there, and He promised to prepare a place for us. The emphasis is on coming back for us to be with Him and not on the mansions.
His promise of everlasting life, John 6:47. His promise of always abiding with us, Hebrews 13:5
His promise of coming back for us, John 14 1:1-3,The assurance of His salvation
[Your home in heaven is secured by Jesus Christ, Ephesian 3:6, That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: What is the promise in Christ? Answer: The promise is you have eternal life according to the promise of Him. And this is the promise that he hath promised us, eternal life, [ I John 2:25, John 3:16, John 1:12-13, John 14:1-3]. But that is not the end but rather the beginning of God’s purpose for you; you have a future being in Christ. The unbeliever does not have a future but is under condemnation, Joh 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.]
Christians are to abound always in the Work of the LORD, [Margie sending Betty the tract]. At about that time there was a tract called the Roman Road and it is used by many to evangelize but I want to call our attention to Romans 5:9-10. The Book of Romans has so much more. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
What does saved by His life mean? His resurrection, He ever lives, and you have a living Saviour, Hebrews 7:25, Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 1] He intercedes for you [ that is different than Romans 8:26. Jesus is at the Father’s right hand] 2] He is your advocate with the Father, 1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 3] He is your faithful High Priest, Heb 4:14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. Heb 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Heb 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
“1As Paul discusses in chaps. 5–8, believers have the Spirit of God in them. They can walk (i.e., live) by the power of the Spirit. If they do, they will experience here and now the abundant life that Jesus spoke of in John 10:10. The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
But there is even more. In the process of walking by the Spirit, they can know that God even uses difficulties in our lives to conform us into the image of Christ.
But there is even more. The believer who walks by the Spirit will become a mature child of God and reign with Christ in the world to come" End quote.] The Holy Spirit said through Paul, Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
Read the scriptures looking for the difference, rightly dividing the word of God = means to dissect, to cut is straight, to expound correctly.
It is not self-righteousness we need but the righteousness of Christ, 1Pe 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
Luke 15 and the parable of the younger son, 2The parable, then, is a beautiful description of the forgiving love of God, grace, and the joys of repentance. In this parable both sons are referred by the Greek word for sons as” hweeos” that is until V 31 , And he said unto him, Son, [ The Greek word teknon is used thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine. “Teknon refers to the saved in general terms.
See how the word “hweeos” is used: Rom 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons [sons = hweeos”] of God. And the same in Heb 2:10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, [ sons = “hweeos” to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
The word “hweeos” meaning inheriting son. Did the elder brother lose his inheritance through self-righteousness? Evidently: but still a son.
