The JSOC is established in the Word. It is mentioned by name in Romans 14:10 and 2 Cor. 5:10.
And it is referenced in many places in the Bible. Col. 1:27-28. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: Hebrews 10:31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. sheds light on Paul’s use of the word terror in 2 Cor. 5:11. Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men;….”
Eph 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, Eph 5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
I] Our LORD is the Judge and it is His Evaluation of us., Romans 14:1-10 We are not the Judge! Christ is on The Seat. Other believers belong to Him and not us.
Paul conformed to the Jewish way of life when he was in Jewish society as cheerfully as he went along with Gentile ways when he was living with Gentiles. The interests of the gospel and the highest well-being of men and women were paramount considerations with him; to these he subordinated everything else.
But he knew very well that many other Christians were not so completely free as he was, and he insisted that these must be treated gently. A Christian’s ‘faith’ in many respects might be weak, immature and uninstructed; but he must be welcomed warmly as a Christian and not challenged forthwith to a debate about those areas of life in which he is still weak.
It is not for one Christian to sit in judgment on another, for it is at God’s tribunal that all must appear to render account and receive due assessment.
Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. Cf. Matthew 7:3–5; Luke 6:37, 41–42; Another man esteems all days alike. There is no word in the Greek text corresponding to ‘alike’, although it is added here to complete the sense. It may mean that he treats every day as equally to be dedicated to the service of God.
You hear this word often, “spiritual” as if this is spiritual and that is not. Everyday is a day the LORD has given. Only one life and will you give it back to the LORD that it might be spiritual. Is Monday not as spiritual as Sunday? Now do not confuse the issue. You are to publicly worship the LORD on Sunday, Hebrews {10:24-26}
We are to build up each other in Christ, Col_3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. You can’t leave your brother lacking: you must reach back and bring them with you.
He who observes the day, observes it in honour of the Lord. Therefore, ‘let no one pass judgment on you with regard to a festival or a new moon or a sabbath’ (Col. 2:16). He also who eats, eats in honour of the Lord. Therefore, ‘let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink’ (Col. 2:16).
He who abstains … gives thanks to God. That is to say, he says grace for the food that his conscience permits him to eat (not for what he abstains from), just as the Christian with a robust conscience says grace for the indiscriminate food that he takes. In either case the food is sanctified by the thanksgiving (cf. 1 Cor. 10:30; 1 Tim. 4:1–5). Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 1Ti 4:3 Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
None of us lives to himself. What Paul means, as verse 8 shows, is that each Christian lives out his life in Christ’s sight, and as Christ’s servant; and each Christian’s life affects his fellow-Christians and his fellow-men and women in general; therefore, he should consider his responsibility to them, and not consult his own interests only.
Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord … By virtue of his death he is Lord of the dead; by virtue of his resurrection, he is Lord of the living. Therefore, in life and death alike his people are his; he is Lord of all (Phil. 2:11).
Why do you pass judgment on your brother? There is no sin to which Christians—especially ‘keen’ Christians—are more prone than the sin of censoriousness, hypercritical. The apostle’s words are serious. Should we not think before criticizing the brethren? When we pass swift, uninformed, unloving and wrong judgments, surely we have forgotten that if we speak evil of them, at the same time we speak evil of the Lord whose name they bear.’
‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall give praise to God.’ Quoted from Isaiah 45:23, I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. The same passage is applied in Philippians 2:10–11 to the eventual paying of universal homage to Christ. Here it is designed to emphasize that in the end each of us shall give account of himself to God (verse 12
II. The Seven Letters to the Seven Churches gives us Insight to the JSOC. They are to the Church Age [us] from Jesus, Revelation 22:16-17, Rev. 1:4-5
John sees Jesus in the midst of the churches, Rev. 1:10-21.
1] John vision comes on Sunday, V 10-11.Rev 1:13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
2] John heard the voice, God’s final voice to mankind, Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Heb 12:25 See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:
2] John sees V 12 -13, Rev 1:12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; Christ walks in the midst of the Churches in the Church Age. To every Church in Chapters 2&3 Jesus says, ”I know thy works.” Rev 2:1 Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks;
3] He reveals His power and authority and that He is active in the churches, now. So, in a very real way, Jesus evaluates our life every day. The difference is at the JSOC the judgment is final but here the opportunity is given to hear, He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. And to repent and to overcome.
4] The Seven stars, 1:20, The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
I believe they are angels [based on other usages of the word angels] Guardian Angels sent to watch over local assemblies of believers and over areas of providences Dan. 10:13;20-21; Matt. 18:10; Acts 12:15, Heb.1:13,14, But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? Heb Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
III] The LORD’s Supper prepares us for the JSOC. 1Co 11:23 For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 1Co 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 1Co 11:25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 1Co 11:26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come. 1Co 11:27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 1Co 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 1Co 11:29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 1Co 11:30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 1Co 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1Co 11:32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
