Spoken to us by His Son

By Pastor Roger Redmond
The Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread teach us that Christ put away our sin, Purge out, therefore, the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1Co 5:7-8

2 Chronicles 30: 15-21

Hebrews 1:1-3

We have the record of God's Word both old and new testament. In reading the account of the Children of Israel, one must remember they did not have the New Testament. They had the promise of the coming of Christ; the New Testament was in the Old Testament concealed. God was leading them and teaching them about the coming of The Lamb of God. Hebrews 8:1-5 i.e. 5-6 Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount. But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.KJV

See the Gospel in the Old Testament.

God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Hebrews 1:1-2. "Sundry Times" means "In many parts or many portions" All was not revealed for writing to one prophet but the revelation was given to each prophet. As you read through the Old Testament you find through the prophets many parts to the Gospel of Christ being taught. For example, in Jonah, you see the burial and resurrection of Christ. In Micah the place of His Birth. In Isaiah, you see the Vicarious Death of Christ. In Daniel, you see the time of His coming. In each one, you can find the character of God and the purpose of God revealed. As you read the account of the Children of Israel put the Gospel in the mix of your reading and you can see what God is teaching them.

God wants to be believed and if anyone is to receive from Him: He must be believed.

1Co 5:7-8

as ye are unleavened. Leaven speaks of sin - the only way you can be unleavened is to be in Christ because He took your sin. This is not the daily cleansing of your life. To fully understand this Bible doctrine you must understand what Jesus was teaching in John 13 and the Bible doctrine of confession of sin in 1 John 1:9-2:2.

The Reasonableness of God, Isaiah 1:18. This means you can present your case and He presents the grounds on which you can be forgiven. 30:15 Then they killed the Passover on the fourteenth day of the second month: and the priests and the Levites were ashamed, and sanctified themselves, and brought in the burnt offerings into the house of the LORD.

The Passover Lamb was to be killed on the 14 th day of the first month but here is saying the second month. Why? God had made an exception Numbers 9:6-11 And there were certain men, who were defiled by the by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the Passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day: Num 9:7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel? Num 9:8 And Moses said unto them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you. Num 9:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Num 9:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the Passover unto the LORD. Num 9:11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.

  1. The Passover had not been kept for a long time and Hezekiah wanted the Passover to be kept, 30:1
  2. It could not be done in the first month because the people were not ready, 30:2-3
  3. The letter on invitation went out 30:4-10, i.e. verse 8 Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.
  4. All did not heed and mocked the invitation, 30:10b.
  5. But a great many did, 30:11-14 - i.e.14 And they arose and took away the altars that were in Jerusalem, and all the altars for incense took they away, and cast them into the brook Kidron.

They came to the LORD and ate the Passover even being not cleansed, 30:18b-20 had not cleansed themselves, yet did they eat the passover otherwise than it was written. But Hezekiah prayed for them, saying, The good LORD pardon every one That prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though he be not cleansed according to the purification of the sanctuary. And the LORD hearkened to Hezekiah, and healed the people.

Spiritual Healing and Cleansing is in Christ and Christ alone.

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; Hebrews 1:2-3. The Last days: the last period of the World

"There had been the patriarchal period, the period under the Law, the prophets, etc., and This was the period during which God's "last" method of communication would be enjoyed, and under which the world would close. It might be a very long period, but it would be the "last" one; and so far as the meaning of the phrase is concerned, it might be the longest period or longer than all the others put together, but still it would be the "last" one." copied from Barnes on e-sword.

What Has God communicated to us in Christ,

His Love, 1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. The Gospel was in the mind of God before the World began, Titus 1:2,2 Timothy 1:9. Propitiation means The expiatory work of the Cross is, therefore, the means whereby the barrier which sin interposes between God and man is broken down. By the giving up of His sinless life sacrificially Christ annuls the power of sin to separate between God and the believer.(from Vine's Expository Dictionary of Biblical Words, Copyright © 1985, Thomas Nelson Publishers.) PROPITIATION

It means that Christ paid for our sin and His payment is accepted.

We are included in Christ work,1 Cor. 1:30

Rom 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

Rom 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Hezekiah prayed for them and God hearkened to his prayer. Christ prayed for you and me in John 17:1-26, i.e 17:8 " For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me."
