When Does a Person Become a Believer in Christ

By Pastor Roger Redmond
"Who hath saved us" The uniqueness of our salvation is seen in that which God has already provided, 1Jn 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

A few words about our current times: A shadow government came to light after Trump's victory. Its goal to fight Trump's leadership and to continue the push to change our democracy. It is the same shadow government that is working now to transition to a global government. It is the people who never left office after the 2016 election.  Who never accepted the election who decided they were god.  Were crimes committed in this hidden agenda? You know the answer.  Their rule of law is to crush all who oppose them.  Christ is coming and their day will end. The green new deal won’t save the plan from the judgment of God. It is God who destroys the earth.  Nor will the global government be able to save the sinner from the judgment of God.

What about Adam and Eve?  They were not saved before they sinned, they were innocent, Rom 5:12  Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

But there is no indication in Genesis or anywhere in the Bible that they believed the saving message before they fell or that they stopped believing it once they did come to believe it.

Like the angels, Adam and Eve were created in a state of innocence. They had a relationship with God that was potentially eternal. However, as in the case with the angels, it was possible to break that relationship.

Before the fall, our first parents could not believe the saving message because it was not yet in place. The promise of everlasting life only came into being after the need arose. In the case of the angels, once they fell, that was it. There is no redemption for fallen angels. Christ did not die for them.

In the case of Adam and Eve, when they fell, they plunged the entire human race into sin. And God spoken of a coming Redeemer, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. (Gen 3:15).  Titus 1:2 sheds light about this salvation, that was already in the mind of God, In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;  As well as 2 Timothy 1:9, Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

“Who hath saved us”  The uniqueness of our salvation is seen in that which God has already provided, 1Jn 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

Because of the Love of God, Jesus Christ, the Son of God has already provided everything necessary for us to be right with Him.  Every religion in the world whether it be, Buddhist, Islam, Hinduism, Catholicism, Protestant, Baptist or any other man-made religion requires man to do something to please God.  But the truth is God is pleased to have provided for us, [John 3:16].  God was pleased 2,000 years ago with what Jesus did at the cross when He took care of the sin question forever. Heb_2:9  But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

Now back to the garden of Eden for a moment.  Adam and Eve sinned and their relationship with God changed.  They were now separated from Him and in them there was no way back, so they hid.  “ But God” [ It was Jesus who walked and talked with them in the Garden] came to them and redeemed them, Gen 3:6-21, i.e.V21,   Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.  So, blood was shed an innocent animal [lamb] had to die and Jesus clothed them with His covering.

No doubt this was used as an object lesson by Jesus that this temporary redemption pointed to the permanent redemption.  That one day in the distant future He {Jesus} would come from Heaven and to be the one who forever took away our sin, {John 3:14-16}. Heb 9:26  For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world [age] hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

If you could go back and capture that scene and see the simplicity of salvation: It was Jesus who found them. It was Jesus who provided the sacrifice.  It was Jesus who clothed them.  And He told them that one day He would be that sacrifice that was pictured in the lamb, Joh 1:29  The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.  And that truth is presented again in 2Co 5:18  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 2Co 5:19  To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2Co 5:20  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. 2Co 5:21  For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Adam and Eve most likely believed in the Lord for justification/everlasting life the moment they heard the promise of Gen 3:15 and when they witnessed V –21.  There is no doubt that was a life changing moment as they listened to the Son of God.

Before they fell, they did not need the Lord Jesus to die for them, and they did not need (or have) everlasting life. After they fell, they needed His death to make them savable, and they needed to believe in Him in order to be saved. And they did believe in Him.   The statement if you quit believing you become an unbeliever is an illogical statement.  When you believe, you are saying, I believe that Jesus is telling me the truth about eternal life.  When you believe you are born into the family of God.  When you believe you are sealed with the Holy Spirit. Those are eternal truths that cannot be reversed or lost

In the Bible, a believer is anyone who has ever believed in Jesus for everlasting life (John 3:16; 11:26). Once a person believes, he is eternally secure and is forever a “believer.”  A person may quit serving the Lord or following the LORD as in discipleship but the faith that saves, the gift of eternal life is always with in him, 1Jn 3:9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. We sin in our unredeemed body but not in the new man God put within you.

I realize that it does not make sense to many that a person who stops believing could still be called a believer. Isn’t that contrary to logic?

1[In In Greek, a participle with the definite article functions as a noun. So, the words ho pisteuōn, “the one who believes,” equals the believer. Jesus said that the believer will never perish and has everlasting life (John 3:16). That is true the moment one believes. One does not become a believer only after a lifetime of persevering in faith until death. If that were true, then no living human being would be a believer. We’d all hope to become believers if we persevered in faith until death.

I expect to see Adam and Eve, our first parents, in the Millennium. And I expect to see all who, like them, have believed in Him for everlasting life, whether they persevered in that faith or not. Once a person is saved, he is always saved.]

So here we are August 17, 2022 many thousands of years have passed since Genises 3:15-21 and this same Jesus who was there, who came and went to the cross and died and carried our sins in His own body was buried and resurrected is this same Jesus  left this promise, John 14:1-3.  That is the promise of the rapture

There has never been a time such as this, 2Ti 3:1  This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2Ti 3:2  For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 2Ti 3:3  Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 2Ti 3:4  Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 2Ti 3:5  Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

It is important in the last days that you finish your race strong. Mat 24:44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Mat 24:45  Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Mat 24:46  Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

Jesus, Founder and Perfecter of Our Faith

Heb 12:1  Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Heb 12:2  Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Run the race, our race, with patiences and since we do not know when He will come, we need to be faithful every day! It is what you are doing when He comes that counts the most.
