The greatness of God is often measured by the things He can do, Luk_18:27 "And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God." What a glorious truth! but God's greatness is also defined by what He cannot do! Mankind lies! They will tell you things that tickle your ears, things they want you to hear. But it is impossible for God to lie, Heb_6:18 "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Immutable things are things that cannot change 1. God cannot change, Mal_3:6 "For I am the LORD, I change not;.." 2. His word cannot change. It is forever settled in Heaven, Psa_119:89. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 3. The Cross and the finished work of Christ will not change. It will never pass away. It is a day sealed in history, more than two thousand years ago. Let me say to you " that God was in Christ, reconciling the world (you) unto himself, not imputing their (your) trespasses unto them (you); and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." 2Co 5:19. Christ will always bear in His body the wounds of Calvary.
The day of Christ's death on the cross is a real day; it did happen! You can make today real in your life! A day when the record is made in heaven of your believing on Christ for eternal life.
Eternal life is believing that Jesus is the Christ, The Son of God that should come into the World; who died on the cross bearing your sins as the scriptures hath said. John 11:25-27 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
