As we began our story a Samaritan Woman had just discovered the person of Christ, "..I that speak to thee am he."John 4: 26.
Now the disciples are going to make their discovery: their purpose and the joy of obedience to the LORD, "...My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work." Up until now, this is food they had never partaken of. The disciples were concerned with the temporal, "In the mean while his disciples prayed him saying, Master eat." Concern for the temporal is the cause of disobedience. As normal, the disciples tried to understand the Word of Christ with human reasoning and as normal Christ turned their thoughts to the eternal, John 4:32-33 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?. The eternal is by far greater than the temporal, 2 Corinthians 4:18. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
As a Disciples, we must make the same discovery as the twelve. This discovery is the blessing of Obedience to the Will of God and the Joy of being used by Him to finish His Work. His Work is seen by what Christ did for the Samaritan Woman. Christ is the answer to every need of mankind. True spiritual food is presenting Him to the world for whom He died. There is no greater gift that one could ever experience than the discovery of Christ as Saviour. At Jacobs Well, Christ did the Will of God.
The Disciples had already made the Discovery of Eternal Life. Now they must discover Real Spiritual Food. In doing the Will of God, you received Spiritual Nourishment, "Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work." The Same is presented to us: To know that Christ is our Saviour and then to discover real spiritual food as you yield all to Him. Present Him as Saviour to your family and then to all, Please take the time to read John 4:1-38. Jesus said, "I that speak to thee am he". and then He said, to the disciples: John 4:34-38 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
